Christmas Sissy Assignment

Ms. Riley’s Christmas Sissy Assignment 2019

As we all know, it is that time of the year again. Which also means it’s the perfect time of year for a fun Christmas sissy assignment. Now this one is optional, but of course, I highly recommend giving it a shot. Now my favorite part about the holidays have always been making Christmas cookies; it’s pretty much the only time of the year I try to bake. I’m not a terrific baker, but even I can pull off Christmas cookies!

So first things first, you need cookie dough. You can buy some or make your own. I would love for you to make your own.  I’ll post a very short recipe I use below; it’s very simple. Make sure if you do buy dough, it’s some you can mold, or cut out your shapes, not the simple put on the tray and bake ones. That’s to easy and ruins some of the fun parts of this assignment.

What You’ll Need:

1 ½ cups of butter (softened) Which means let it sit out and soften up for about 20-40 if what I do

2 cups of sugar

4 eggs

1 teaspoon of vanilla extract

5 cups of flour (all-purpose)

2 teaspoons of baking powder

1 teaspoon of salt

Optional: 1-3 teaspoon of cinnamon to taste, festive food coloring

Get Sprinkles, icing anything for decorating fun!

Step One: In a large bowl, combine the butter and sugar mix until nice and smooth. Then add in the eggs and vanilla mix well for 1 to 2 minutes. Then stir in flour and baking powder and salt. Mix well. You can cover and chill for an hour or overnight. I tend to chill for at least 6 hours. If you choose to use food coloring but don’t want to make extra dough, I tend to separate the dough and mix in what colors in the separate piles and then store to chill separately.

Step Two: Before you take the dough out to roll, make sure you have yourself dolled up with a cute little apron (If you have one) and get ready to have some fun. I like the image of you baking in a cute little outfit. Take out your rolling pin, cookie cutters, sprinkles, and icing.

Step Three: You’re going to need to roll out the dough, I tend to lay the wax paper out and sprinkle some flour down to make the rolling easier. Roll out the dough, and then you can cut out shapes if you like or just simply take circles out of the dough. Make sure to start preheating the oven to 400 degrees.

Step Four: Place your cookies on to a non-stick cookie sheet, using non-stick sprays is ok. You can start to decorate with light sprinkles; however, do not use any icing at this time. Put cookies into the oven for 6 to 8 minutes. These cookies will be thin and crispy, how I like them. So if you prefer different cookies, it’s ok to seek out other recipes.

Step Five: Take out the cookies from the oven and let them cool completely. Then you may continue to decorate them with icing or anything else you like. Make them festive or girlie, have fun with it.

Enjoy This Year’s Christmas Sissy Assignment!

When they are completed, I would love it if you would share photos of your creations with us here at the empire!

Now the real fun part about this assignment,  I want you to give them to somebody as a gift this holiday season! Have fun, girlies!
